CC_CZH – House Pár

To all the lovers: House for a couple of every age.

The narrow shape of the traditional village-lot gave shape to the house Pár. The elemental fronts are joined together by triangular envelope, equal from both sides to stay fair in times when people need own space. Pár is an inner-garden house for days under the crown of lime tree.

House that loves long east-west gardens of Brdy.

CC_CZH – House Polabák

Czech in its very shape.

A small house in a big garden is always better than the other way around. Compact size of the house minimizes the building costs and the material simplicity allows for standard building procedures.

House offers wide variety of spaces between the interior and the garden and thus maximizes user flexibility. By omitting the entrance hall we save precious space and blur the strict division between the inside and the outside. At its core is a fireplace and staircase connecting the basement, ground floor and the bedrooms in the attic.

Best serves in Polabí with a peach tree in front of the door.

CC_CZH – design series for the Czech countryside

As part of the celebrations of the 28th of October, the Independent Czechoslovak State Day, COLL COLL launches the research series CZECH HOUSE. Looking at the state of rural architecture in the Czech lands we have decided to produce a series of designs drawing from the traditional elements of our countryside. These are published with a Creative Commons [CC] licence to the wide public.

The vivid building activity in the past two decades caused an unfortunate shift in the built environment. Imported project-books of typified bungalow architecture spread through the land as a viral disease. Houses with no cellar, roof pitch 0°-35° and plastic plaster colours are sold to people without blush. Ignoring the knowledge of the local environment acquired by generations for centuries.

Counting on the common sense of the public we offer these sketches for inspiration. The series is a starting point for our discussion on the Taste, the Modesty & the Czechness.

We propose rural houses with contemporaneous twist! No bungalows, no boxes.

Houses will be published on regular basis, for more information & participation contact us at mail@collcoll.cc
